(3):
Instructor:
This interdisciplinary introduction to women examines gender ideologies and
views on women, social roles, women’s bodies and the construction of
identity, education, work and the family, economics and the feminization of
poverty, women’s rights, and globalization. Drawing upon readings and
films from the social sciences and humanities, this semester we will focus
on the theme of women’s rights as human rights within the US and in
global perspective. Assignments include response papers, a mid-semester and
final essay, and small group projects on global women’s rights movements.
